Tragedy of Alcohol. is a man made calamity, which affects all the areas of life. It shatters all the barriers of society. Kerala is known as “God’s own land” and now it is turn to be “the paradise of Alcahol”. Navajeeva Kendram is started from the love of Jesus Christ to reach out the people who are drowning in the ocean of the Alcohol. Navajeeva Kendram has entered its Crystal Jubilee (15 years). It is one of the units of Kripasamithy, a social concerned body of Ranny – Nilackal Diocese registered under the Charitable and Society Act, 1954, vide no. p.761/98

It is started in 1989 and the first Director was Rev. E. J. George and followed by Rev. P.J. Mamachen, Rev. John Mathew, Rev. K.Solomon.

The present Director is Rev. George K. Daniel.

Treatment Programme
Addiction is considered to be physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, social and family decease. So it is to be treated differently from other decease. The following treatment programmes are adopted here in a comprehensive way, in order to reach a holistic development of a person. i.e. Yoga, relaxation and group therapy, personal and family counseling, meditation classes on different topics, balanced nourished diet and occupational therapy. This programme help the people to bring into the main stream of society through adopting a new life style. Usually it will take atleast 21 days for treatment. It is advisable to have treatment with family members.

Now it cost average 4000/- per family including food and accommodation.

Follow up work and Alcoholic Anonymous (A.A)
In every month on first Wednesday we conduct A.A meeting for recovered patients at our center. About 100 families areregularly participating each monthly meeting. And also we have weekly A.A. at the following places; Malayalapuzha, Kumbzha, Pathanamthitta, Kozhenchery, Thannithodu, etc.

Awareness programme.
We are conducting Public meeting, training programmes, classes, street plays at various places in Kerala about the awareness of alcoholic, drugs and panmasala’s abuse and its side effects.

We also conducting school level awareness programes in various schools,colleges and training colleges. We directed 45 minutes long street play “Navajeevan”, which inacted in 50 various places.

Our needs
In the arising case of patients for treatment, we have urgent need to construct 10 more rooms for accommodation, which estimated 20 lakhs.
Also we are in need of vehicle for the use of street play taking patients to hospitals and counseling centers and a generator for the smooth running of Navajeeva Kendram.
