Ranny Nilackal Diocese is the youngest diocese in the Marthoma Syrian
Church. Earlier it was in the eastern part of Kottayam - Ranny Diocese.
Most of the believers of Marthoma Church settle in this area and they
accomplish very significant role in our Church. Moreover Nilackal
is a historical place where the one of the seven Churches were formed.
Our late Metropolitan Dr.Thomas Mar Athanasius Suffragan Metropolitan
had a great vision about this diocese. Tirumeni realized the requirement
of new diocese, all clergy and lay men were gathered together under
the leadership of Tirumeni and decided to form Ranny - Nilackal Diocese.
Vaikkam parish is the oldest parish in eastern zone. So Tirumeni wanted
to construct diocesan office at Vaikkam.The Thazhattillathu family
gave their land for its purpose. Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilos Episcopa
led for its construction work and formation of this diocese.
This diocese was formed in 1990 January 1. Majority of the Parishes
in the diocese includes in the eastern zone of central Tranvancore,
which compiles of 118 Parishes and in mainly divided into six centres
mainly Ayroor, Ranny, Vadesserikkara, Chittar, Kumplampoika, Keekozhoor
and Vaikkam.
Our Metropolitan Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom was
the first episcopa of this diocese. Tirumeni led this diocese for
seven and half years. Kalamannilachen Memorial Hall, B.Ed College,
CARD, Malayalapuzha De-Addiction Center etc. were started during his
era.
Rt. Rev.Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos Episcopa was appointed
as Diocesan Episcopa since 1997 August.Prathyasa Bhavan, A rehabilitation
center for mental patients was founded by Tirumeni.
Now Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mar Athanasius Episcopa
leads Ranny - Nilackal Diocese. He gives an earnest attempt for the
realization of the diocese projects.
